Have you ever participated in a dysfunctional group where the finger pointing is comparable to shooting with guns?
Small business persons recognize the importance of forming support groups. Sometimes these groups are hampered by a reluctance of members to share problems and solutions for fear someone will steal their business. At other times, personal differences and dislikes become disruptive. Isn't this tantamount to shooting inwards?
One of the most unifying factors for a group is having a common enemy. Often the purpose of business associations is to unite against some common enemy or threat. If so, that is where the energies should be focused - to shoot outwards and not inwards.
This maxim is often paraphrased as, "The problem with the [name of group] is they circle the wagon and shoot inwards."
Stories from members will add great value to these maxims.
