An aggressive person will try to put humility out the door and find it comes back in through the window. True humility is hard to obtain.
There's a time to brag and a time to be humble. The skillful businessperson will strive to learn the appropriate balance.
Perform well. Make your good performance known to selected others. When others sing your praises, that's the time to act modestly. Let your actions speak louder than your words while you let others do the promoting.
The skillful businessperson will learn words and gestures that make aggressiveness appear humble. Asking questions that probe without being embarrassing is one example. Mirroring as in, "Let's see if I have this correct. You're telling me ..." is a good technique for this procedure.
It is not recommended you adopt a humble attitude because you will tend to lose your assertiveness. Instead, adopt a humble appearance.
Learn to discern the subtleties between assertiveness and modesty.
