Find an Empty Spot and Fill it
Published: Apr 30, 2004
Application
Niche marketing is finding an empty spot in the marketplace where you can gain a reasonable profit. Niche marketing is one of the greatest advantages
to a small enterprise. The niche should be a good spot for your needs, resources and capabilities.
Some considerations
- Is there sufficient demand to support the investment?
- Is the demand supported by firm reliable data?
- Will the demand be sustained during economic downturns?
- Is your proposed market currently under-served?
- Do you have reliable assurance the existing servers are not going to expand?
- Is there room for another server?
- What is the probability better financed competitors will resist your entry?
- What are your motivations?
- Do you want to enter the market to satisfy your ego only?
- Are you profit oriented at the expense of enjoyment?
- If you focus on a niche, what are the foregone opportunities?
- Will your entry survive a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis.
