Reconcile Rough Tactics When You're a Nice Person
Published: Nov 22, 2004
Application
If you have an ample supply of clean, justifiable and fair tactics, you will have less reliance on 'dirty' tactics.
Before you resort to rough tactics or 'dirty' tricks, there are some pre-requisites and cautions.
- Conduct exhaustive investigations to support your decision to implement. This includes having most of the facts accurate and true.
- If possible (not too harmful to you,) allow the other party to start the rough tactics. This allows for the comeback, "I'm sorry, but you started it!"
- The situation and circumstances must justify your 'right' to proceed.
- You or your agent must be skillful at delivering a significant initial volley (a Sunday punch) from which your adversary has difficulty recovering.
- In addition to being justified you should appear to be fully justified by others.
- View it as a game rather than personal vindictiveness. Still, play hard.
- Reconcile the tactic with your self image as a nice person. You have to live with yourself after the game is over.
- Avoid giving a warning as it will diminish your element of surprise and shock.
- Avoid gloating when you win or being vindictive when you lose.
