For years I've been searching for a business person who could understand and empathize without saying, "That's nothing let me tell you what happened to me"?
If it's a bully. Why not have some fun while conditioning him/her not to behave that way with poor little business people.
Some day we may organize a defense league on this site.
I was in the midst of multi-tasking, multi-faceted, multi-logistics and multi-everything associated with a major change in a business operation. I was explaining the challenge of keeping my equilibrium to my neighboring business owner.
When I said, "This is an important exercise in maintaining mental health at my age."
He said, "Yeah! Like working with a Chemo Brain."
Omigawd! This man had been subject of a recent special section in the local newspaper. He had won a major battle with a massive malignant brain tumor. According to the report, he accepted the risk that the "chemo" therapy and surgery could have killed him more quickly than the tumor. Medical authorities were quoted as saying he was very lucky to be alive with a state of "remission" for now.
Then, he purchased a business and building next door to turn it around from what had become a mess. I had noticed he wasn't as sharp as he was in the past. My wife even asked if he was very bright. Still, I didn't relate some little communication problems with his medical problems.
Here I was telling him about my piddly little problems.
