Act Not at Other's Expense

Published: Dec 10, 2004

Application

There's a problem in the minds of many business persons. It's the problem of reconciling the act of being assertive and aggressive in business affairs while retaining a caring and benevolent persona in private life.

One of the key tenets of the philosophy of Objectivism, as developed by Ayn Rand and Nathaniel Brandon, is the concept that whatever your selfish pursuits, do not pursue them at the expense of others.

While negotiating our interests in business affairs we can still respect the thoughts and feelings of others. We can ensure our actions are not at the expense of others.
