Be Right and Fear No Man - Don't Write and Fear No Woman

Published: Dec 2, 2004

Application

This venerable maxim from another age, probably has less to do with gender qualities than it has to arrangements and relationships that may become broken. It suggests you avoid writing to describe a relationship. We suggest you do the opposite in business.

Any meeting of the minds implies the possibility of a separation of minds. Written documents describing the 'meeting' should describe the 'separation.'

People in love are not the only ones who become blinded with optimism. Settling a deal with a handshake is an admirable scenario that could be fraught with danger.

For business purposes, this maxim cautions us to be extremely careful in all that we write. Let's not overlook the advice of the first part - be right and appear to be so.
