Experts Are Useful, but Not Always Right

Published: Jan 26, 2005

Application

Experts are often people who have acquired a superior amount of knowledge and experience in a limited area. This tends to mislead us into thinking their superior wisdom extends beyond their areas. Some experts may have come to the same conclusions about themselves.

Experts don't always see the big picture. Experts don't always know all the inputs, outputs and ramifications of your business. Experts may be more theoretical at the expense of practicality.

You are the manager of resources available to your venture. Experts are one of the resources. As manager, you are responsible for the selection, employment and deployment of the expert resources.

When you have been wise enough to consult with experts, expand your wisdom to manage the resources wisely.
