Application

If you have a classification in your recall memory, this belongs in the top-of-mind class.

Whenever you begin a new relationship (supplier, partner, employee or any critical arrangement extending into your future affairs) and you are sensing something is not just right or you're experiencing difficulties ==> BAIL OUT! Or, consider other options before you're too involved. There's a high probability it will get worse.

Young Hospital Administrator

This maxim was first learned from a young hospital administrator. All I wanted to do was broadcast from the roof of the hospital because it was the highest viewpoint in the city.

He made such a big deal out of liability, image and damage issues that I challenged his complicated way of managing a simple request to go up on the roof.

He told me how a professor in an MBA course taught him the importance of always starting things out the way you want them to end. Neither of us took the time to learn all the contingencies and questions to be considered.

Experiences since have developed in a me a discipline to accept and implement this maxim. Sometimes it is difficult to obey because you want the end result enough to ignore the wisdom. There is a fear that asking so many questions will bungle a good deal.

We hope you will not have too many lessons before learning all the danger signs in any attractive arrangement.
