Anyone familiar with the basics of boxing or the martial arts, knows the importance of maintaining balance. The objective is to knock your opponent off balance.
In physical combat the focus is on the feet. In a non-physical combat ideas, tone of voice and body language are more subtle. The parries and thrusts still have the objective of upsetting the other person's balance.
We use surprise by saying something completely different than would normally be expected. We inject humor at critical moments. We gather information for continuous jabs. We move in such a way to entrap an opponent into throwing herself or himself off balance. Relate combative physical tactics to psychological ones. Practice those you have formulated.
