Know How to Spot a Bully
Published: Nov 18, 2004
Application
Sometimes the signs are very apparent and at other times they are very subtle. To avoid being bullied it's important to recognize bullying actions
as early as possible. Bullying can be in varying degrees.
Some of the signals may be one or more of the following:
- You are being delivered an ultimatum without recourse.
- Demands seem unreasonable.
- You sense the playing field is not level.
- Someone is exercising authority given by a third party or regulation - more obvious when a uniform is involved.
- You sense someone is being directed or organized by an unknown 'cartel.'
- You are being excluded from an information network.
- Information is being withheld for no apparent reason other than to place you at a disadvantage.
- Negotiating is not an option given you.
- The tone of voice is coming from the parent ego state - talking down to you or is patronizing.
- A person behaves differently alone compared to when in company of others.
Recognition comes before rebuttal.
