Develop Your Ability to Simplify

Published: Feb 1, 2005

Application

Don't you respect someone who can communicate with the least amount of words while leaving no need for further explanation? Do you have the impression that person is very clever? In most cases, they probably are.

Many of these 'simplifiers' are probably intelligent people who have been gifted from birth. The not-so-gifted may have worked at developing much of their appearance of intelligence through diligent training.

One way to develop your ability to simplify is to work diligently at re-writing your communications until they become as simplified as you can write them. This can require tedious toil made possible by strong resolve, habit and good planning.

As your written communications become more simplified, your spoken words will become the same.

Are your communications confused statements for simple people or simple statements for confused people?

Developing your ability to simplify will help you to appear more intelligent.

Do you think some of these maxims need more simplification? Our only defense is, you should have seen how muddled these thoughts were when they were first conceived.
