Do you have to work with people who have no knowledge of what they are doing? It is even more annoying when a spouse, accustomed to being the boss, gives directions when he or she hasn't a clue of what they are talking about.
On the other hand, do you have a salesperson who knows all about selling and can't sell?
This mismatch between possessing knowledge and applying it to useful pursuits, is often seen as a waste. Knowledge and accomplishments - combined properly, results in great achievements. Imbalance results in disasters or vacuums.
Knowledge is similar to other things in our lives, if we don't use it we lose it. It seems we must strike a balance between the acquisition of knowledge and putting into action that which we have learned.
I declared to my close associates that I was not going to acquire any more knowledge. I would explain that I had been so focused on acquiring knowledge that I had so much unapplied knowledge and there was little energy left to implement most of it. I was going to focus on implementing what I knew. I could have blamed my environment; a teaching faculty in a university.
Of course, I continued to learn. The declaration did influence my directions. Applying my knowledge became my prime focus. I hope you can detect this influence in these writings.
