When You Find a Stumbling Block – Use it as a Stepping Stone

Published: Dec 10, 2004

Application

It's not easy to look for the silver lining in clouds of doom. Nor is it easy to convince yourself that adversities develop character.

We learn from experience and from the experience of others, that character development does, indeed, require challenges in the form of setbacks, stumbling blocks or tragedies. The biographies on television include these in almost every one of their story-telling documentaries.

It is a fact of life. And, one that should be exploited as an opportunity. If a reversal happens early in your life - all the better! Because, it creates a foundation and an attitude for finding stepping stones throughout the remainder of your life.

Adversities do not, in themselves, create strong character. It is how we react to them. It is looking for the opportunities in each problem thrown our way.

Take care you are not creating problems just to reap the benefits of triumph.
