Laughter is one of the best ways to relieve stress.
Your attitude tips the balance between a titter and a belly laugh. Set yourself up for the latter. Be determined to laugh as hard as you can at whatever punch line is delivered.
It's the belly laugh that maximizes the physical and emotional good.
You will feel good. You will notice a reduction in your stress. Others will also feel good and they will be prompted to show you more affection.
Be careful who you tell that laughter is a major part of your stress management.
I belong to three organizations where, at least, one person is called upon to tell a joke. I prepare or will myself to laugh as hard as I can regardless of the punch line. It makes me, the joke teller, and the people around me feel better.
Because I'm frequently called upon to tell a joke, I must be prepared to protect my reputation. Whenever I hear a good joke, I write it down immediately and, later, insert it into my joke files before I forget it.
I subscribe to a website with jokes. My favorite is at www.Morgan-News.com where you get updates on the preparation for the 2010 Winter Games.
Upon leaving for a meeting, I refer to my joke files and select a joke (coded for when and where it was told previously) and record the outline in my diary.
