We have all experienced some form of discipline. Some of us have done quite well when it was imposed by others.
Discipline's not the problem. The self part is.
This is when reciting a mantra to yourself in the mirror has some inspirational worth. Whether you take directions from Andrew Carnegie-via-Napoleon Hill or Tony Robbins or whomever it doesn't really matter. They aren't going to do the implementation. It is up to you. They convince you of the value of desiring the outcome, you are the one who makes it happen. Think of the millions of people who read 'Think and Grow Rich' but did not become rich.
It is self evident that a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step and there's less pressure by thinking something is better than nothing.
Teachers and fads will fade away while the self remains with you forever.
Enough preaching. The mirror is your most effective implement. Carry one with you and use it whenever you suffer a moment of weakness.
A wise old Indian chief was being challenged by some ambitious young braves who conspired to trick the old chief into thinking he was no longer wise. One was designated to approach the chief with a live bird cupped in his hands. He was to ask the chief if the bird was alive or dead. If the chief said it was alive the brave would crush the bird to death. The chief, still being very wise, replied, "That depends on you, my son."
