Earn Respect for the Value of Your Time

Application

After a study of the I+U+ quadrant in the Introduction to Time Management tutorial, you must have concluded your life and your success in business will improve if you can do fewer less important [I-] tasks.

Whether you are on the bottom rungs of a corporate ladder (or any rung for that matter), a CEO, or an owner/manager, this desire will apply to almost everyone.

If you want to be able to ask, "do you think that is a good use of my time?" Or to declare, "I have far more important items on my agenda! " Or to be asked to do only the more important tasks. You must earn that privilege with your performance.

This cannot be done in a day or a week. You are attempting to change the attitudes others have of you and your worth. You know about the huge challenge of modifying your own behavior. Consider, the multiplying effect when such modification is applied to numerous associates.

As with any other major business enterprise, you need a plan complete with goals, objectives, identified opportunities and a plan of action to be escalated over an extended period of time. This should include performing current tasks at an above-average level.

You have a choice between dreaming about it or implementing a plan of action. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
