Have you ever completed a task and wasted time admiring your handiwork? Or, do you tend to be distracted between tasks? Do you plan only one task at a time instead of a sequence of tasks?
This is valuable time slipping through the cracks.
If you are doing a time-log, include this lag time. It could be an area for improvement. If you are following the one-improvement-at-a-time routine, focus on shortening the time between tasks in one of your improvement periods.
Plan, in your head, your move to the next task as you are completing your current task. Or, you may have moments while waiting for something to happen (on telephone hold, etc.) during a task. You may be delayed enough to plan the sequence of several tasks. Your plan can include the required startup preparations, documents and instruments. Visualize doing the very first action of a task.
